logo ICubeLe laboratoire ICube organise un séminaire ouvert à la communauté scientifique sur le thème : Rapid Prototyping of Ultrasound-Guided Interventions présenté par Gabor Fichtinger, Director of the Laboratory for Percutaneous Surgery (Perk Lab).

Abstract
Tracked ultrasound guidance is powerful concept that has been making impact on many minimally invasive procedures. A small number of commercial navigation systems have emerged during the past decade or so, but the potential of computer-assisted ultrasound-guided interventions is yet to be realized. Our goal is to provide an open-source, easily configurable software platform for rapid prototyping and early clinical translation of image-guided intervention systems, particularly with ultrasound imaging. The talk will introduce the SlicerIGT for prototyping turn-key applications and the underlying Public Library for Ultrasound Toolkit that provides supporting infrastructure for the application systems. Following a brief outline of structure and functionality, series of use cases will illustrate the power and versatility of the open-source application prototyping platform.

" Gabor Fichtinger received the University Doctor degree in Computer Science from the Technical University of Budapest, Hungary, in 1990. Presently he is a Professor at Queen’s University, Canada. His primary appointment is in Computer Science and has cross appointments in Surgery, Mechanical and Material Engineering, and Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is an Adjunct Professor in Radiology and Computer Science at the Johns Hopkins University, USA; Adjunct Faculty of the Techna Institute of the University of Toronto, Canada; and Adjunct Research Professor of Medical Biophysics at Western University, Canada; Honorary University Professor at the Universitas Budensis, Hungary. Professor Fichtinger is the director of the Laboratory for Percutaneous Surgery (a.k.a. Perk Lab, perk.cs.queensu.ca), where his research specializes on medical image computing, computer assisted interventions and medical robotics, primarily for the diagnosis and therapy of cancer and musculoskeletal conditions. He has authored and co-authored nearly 600 publications in these subjects. His Perk Lab also develops free open-source software platforms for prototyping surgical navigation applications, downloaded and used in over 80 countries. Prof. Fichtinger is a Marie Curie Fellow, MICCAI Fellow, IEEE Fellow, IEEE EMBS Distinguished Lecturer. He holds the Cancer Care Ontario Research Chair in Cancer Imaging. He serves on the Boards of the International Society of Computer-Assisted Surgery (ISCAS) and the Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI) Society as Executive Secretary. "
