Part of success in Alsace comes from the synergy created by the region’s many medtech scientific talents, distinguished prize-winning scientists and internationally renowned research institutes.

    Specialized high level Medtech training

    Alsace offers a variety of training programs for the medical technologies sector, primarily in the fields of minimally-invasive surgery, biomaterials/materials, and computers/robotics.

    The EITS (European Institute of Tele-Surgery) is for example an international training center in minimally-invasive surgery. Each year, 4 000 surgeons from around the world come to Strasbourg  in order to train in MIS techniques. The IRCAD (Research Institute Against Digestive Cancers) also offers WebSurg, a free-access virtual university on the Internet. WebSurg offers a vast range of multimedia content developped by healthcare professionals, verified and approved by associated learned societies.

    Medtech Campus A unique location for MedTech business and innovations!

    The Eurometropolis of Strasbourg and the Alsace BioValley competitiveness cluster are the driving forces behind the Medical Technologies Campus project, located within the walls of the Civil Hospital of Strasbourg (Alsace region in France). This initiative marks Strasbourg out as a great centre of excellence and an international gold standard in Healthcare technologies. The Medtech Campus will bring together recognised specialists in healthcare, research and training and help forge close partnerships with business.

    The Medtech Campus is built based on 3 complementary projects:

    • an Institute of Image-Guided Minimally Invasive Surgery, run by IRCAD Institute : discover
    • an Institute for developing new Biomedical Implants
    • 3 business centers for R&D companies in the medical instrumentation sector: the pH8, the Biocluster and the Technoparc.
